Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)

What is the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)?

The CDBS is a government incentive providing basic dental services to children. From 2017 onwards, dental Services are capped at $1000 over 2 consecutive calendar years.

Patient Eligibility:

·         To be eligible for the CDBS incentive, children must be aged between 2-17 years for at least 1 day of the calendar year

·         Be eligible for Medicare

·         Receive, or be part of a family receiving, certain Australian Government payments

Eligibility can be found by calling Medicare direct.

What is covered under CDBS?

·         Dental Examinations

·         X-rays

·         Scale and clean

·         Preventative fissure sealants

·         Fillings

·         Root canals

·         Extractions, and

·         Partial dentures

It is important to note that the CDBS does not cover orthodontic, cosmetic dental work, or dental services provided in hospital.

Dental Clinic Requirements:

Participation in the CDBS is completely voluntary for dental practitioners so it is important to note that not all practices will provide these services.

At Concord Dental Practice we do offer the CDBS program, payment must be made direct to the clinic for any treatment required which can then be claimed at Medicare, on the phone or through Medicare online.
